This was a portrait I did before I painted pet portraits. Maddy Mae, a springer spainel, was our childhood dog and my sister's favorite. She had a long, happy life but it was still very difficult for our family to lose her, especially for my sister. The summer she died, I was working at a summer camp in Porter, Maine which is where this dog portrait was painted. I portrayed Maddy in heaven on a bed of clouds, angel wings and halo. In Maddy's heaven, tennis balls fall like rain:) My sister was on the verge of tears when I gave it her. It still hangs in her home in Charlotte, NC.

Maddy Mae

The summer she died, I was working at a summer camp in Porter, Maine which is where this dog portrait was painted. I portrayed Maddy in heaven on a bed of clouds, angel wings and halo. In Maddy's heaven, tennis balls fall like rain:) My sister was on the verge of tears when I gave it her. It still hangs in her home in Charlotte, NC.
Dudley
Dudley is a rescue mutt with a fun loving personality. This pet portrait was a wedding gift from the bride's mother. At the time the couple was living in Charlotte, NC but have since moved to Hong Kong. Their first few months in Hong Kong was hard, especially since they weren't able to bring Dudley with them right away. So they brought the next best thing.. their pet portrait of him:)
Oliver
Jet
Jet was my first pet portrait. My sister shared Jet with her now husband and was looking for a special Christmas gift for him. Jet had torn ligaments in both of his back knees and didn't have the use of his back legs. Fearful that he wouldn't last much longer, she asked me to paint a portrait as a way for them to always remember him and, in a way, immortalize him.
